we are delighted to invite you to a lecture by Professor Alexandra Xanthaki, United Nations Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights, entitled:
Has Culture Already Lost to Populism? Defending Cultural Rights in Time of Global Insecurity.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, at 1:00 PM, in the Prof. Baszkiewicz Hall, Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, University of Warsaw (the building is located on the Main Campus, at Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28). After the lecture, we will open the floor for questions from the audience and from guests.
Professor Xanthaki is a leading expert in the international protection of cultural rights, with a particular focus on the rights of minorities and indigenous peoples. She is a Professor at Brunel University of London, where she served as Deputy Head of Brunel Law School from 2008 to 2011 and currently holds the position of its Director of Research. In 2021, she was appointed UN Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights.
