Heuristics SDNS – “Boundaries in Social Research”

On May 28, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, in room 0.410 at Dobra 55, the next edition of Heuristics, a series of doctoral seminars initiated by His Magnificence, the Rector of the University of Warsaw, prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, will take place. Heuristics provides an opportunity to present research conducted by doctoral students and engage in discussions with the audience.
We invite you to the edition of the seminar organized by the Doctoral School of Social Sciences.
During the “Boundaries in Social Research” seminar, doctoral students from the Doctoral School of Social Sciences will present their research projects, in the presence and with the support of their supervisors:
- Michelle Mbazuigwe, M.A., with her supervisor, Prof. Dr hab. Mirosława Czerny: “The boundaries of formality and informality in urban space: factors and mechanisms of the persistence of liminal spaces: the example of Lagos”;
- Mateusz Jeżowski, M.A., with his supervisor, Dr hab. Magdalena Dudkiewicz, UW Professor: “How can technology determine the boundaries of a social phenomenon? An attempt to answer based on the analysis of volunteering mediated and completed online”;
- Emilia Michałuszko, M.A., with her supervisor, Dr hab. Marcin Krajewski: “Civil law regulation of prostitution – excessive interference or necessity?”;
- Mariusz Kierasiński, M.A., with his supervisor, Prof. Dr hab. Jarosław Kilias: “Between visibility and recognition: sociology in the DPRK and the limits of academic reflection”.
