Social Sciences and Humanities for Transformation and Climate Resilience (SHiFT) – workshops

On behalf of the Doctoral School of Social Sciences and the 4CF Futures Literacy Company, we would like to invite doctoral students and researchers to a workshop organized within the COST Action “Social Sciences and Humanities for Transformation and Climate Resilience” (SHiFT) https://shift-cost.eu/  .

SHiFT aims to address the challenge of generating innovative and actionable pathways by engaging with the ‘critical practice’ dimensions of transformation.

A ‘critical practice’ approach explores transformation processes in practice across different dimensions which include research, policy, business, community and individual practices.

Two workshops will be held at the University of Warsaw as part of the action.

  • Future of planetary well-being 2040 – a sense-making workshop (Tools Roadshow)

The main goal of the workshop will be to showcase future-oriented engagement tools for sustainability, already tested at the international level among the COST SHIFT community thus disseminating them and building a wider engagement of the local network. This is an interactive event, designed for a dedicated audience of young researchers and PhD students. By participating, you will enhance your futures literacy skills and enrich your perspective on the potential futures of planetary well-being in 2040 using methods originating from the Futures Studies field (such as scenario gamebooks!).

Date: May 7, 2024, 4:30 p.m., Room 303, Auditorium Building

  •    SHiFT Demo Day – fostering knowledge exchange

Building on shared experiences and encouraging collection of new ideas, this session will explore how young researchers can integrate the topics of change, sustainability, and uncertainty into their academic journey.

As a springboard for discussion, the hosts will be showcasing the COST SHiFT project, introducing its on-going activities and possible ways of engagement in forthcoming events such as: virtual mobility grants, webinars or training schools. Participants will then be invited to discuss the challenges related to the topics of transformation & sustainability and collectively un-pack the vision of SHIFT, which is: to explore the dimensions of change and shape a more resilient future together.  Brainstorming will continue about the role of Social Sciences and Humanities in facilitating participatory dialogue about change.
